CvCommun Privacy Policy

GENERAL

This Statement is an addition to the Terms and Conditions. Therefore, the general definitions and provisions of the Terms and Conditions apply.

CvCommun (also referred to as "the Service") is an online collaboration platform intended to assist researchers to network and collaborate by gathering information about their profiles, applications for funding, projects and related activities and documentation. CvCommun staff (also referred to as "the Provider") has only the possibility to support, monitor, and administer data while respecting the confidential nature of the information provided.

The Provider respects your privacy and therefore protects your personal data. All information entered into CvCommun will be governed and protected in accordance with applicable privacy legislation in Canada and Directive 95/46/EC.

When you register and use this system (you become a "User"), it means that you understand and agrees to be bound by all of the Conditions of this statement and expressly consents to storage and processing of your data, as described and defined in this statement.

INFORMATION GATHERING AND USAGE

When you register in CvCommun, we ask for information such as your name, company name, email address, billing address, credit card information. Members who sign up for the free account are not required to enter a credit card.

CvCommun uses collected information for the following general purposes: identification and authentication, services improvement, billing, and support (monitor and administer data). CvCommun does not sell the collected information to other organizations for commercial purposes or share your personal information with third parties, unless explicitly approved by you, or under the following circumstances:

  • It is necessary to share information in order to investigate or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Terms of Use of CvCommun, or as otherwise required by law.
  • If CvCommun is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, CvCommun will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Our services let you share information with other users or submit it to other agencies. When you share information, it may be copied to other indexable search engines, or, if submitted to other agencies, it becomes subject to this agency privacy policy.

CvCommun may process your email address solely to send e-mails to you containing information or notifications about the Service. CvCommun reserves the right to attach a minor part to such e-mails containing advertisements for products and services of any third party.

DATA STORAGE

CvCommun may use third party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run our services. Although CvCommun owns the code, databases, and all rights to the CvCommun applications, you retain all rights to your data.

CvCommun stores data you enter and submit on the Web service and doesn’t add any other information from any other source.

You can see and edit your data on your profile pages. You can also delete all your master data but your name, your e-mail address and your password. If you cancel your CvCommun subscription (if you wish to do so, please contact CvCommun by e-mail, mail or fax), we will delete all your data.

Information provided will be transmitted to CvCommun database in an encrypted format (using SSL) and stored on a secure server.

COOKIES

A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive.

Cookies are required to use the CvCommun services.

We use cookies to record current session information, but do not require permanent cookies.

CHANGES

CvCommun may periodically update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your CvCommun service holder account or at the time you login to CvCommun for the first time after the change was made, and you will be requested to agree to the new Statement on Privacy and Data Protection. You retain the right to access, amend, correct or delete your personal information where it is inaccurate at any time.

COMPLAINTS

Should you have any complaints or disputes you may have regarding the use of your personal information, please inform us (using contact information below). We will thoroughly investigate the matter internally and make every effort to attempt to resolve the issue quickly. If your dispute cannot be resolved by us internally, we agree to dispute resolution to an independent dispute resolution mechanism.

CvCommun considers privacy and data protection to be very important issues, as they directly affect the trust between us and our valued users. Therefore, CvCommun has implemented specific measures to supervise data protection issues.
